Hello everyone, I am Liu Xiaoqing, the founder of Shenzhen Zuotang Sculpture Art.
From the days when I would knead a lump of clay, coaxed its warm, tactile grain in the palm of my hand, to standing before my sculptural works on the pedestal, scrutinizing every swell and every play of light and shadow—twenty-five years have already slipped by in the blink of an eye. Along the way, it has been the passion within, the steadfast commitment to understanding the world and to exploration.
Contemporary city life is full of material coercion, people are trapped in complex desires, and they lose the simple and pure spiritual joy. The hanging bionic fireflies are the medium to childhood, and the audience travels through the light array, as if returning to the summer night grass chasing the stars.
The work uses waste industrial materials, flowing soft light and natural lawn to build a spiritual private land in the hinterland of the city, calling on people to break away from the shackles of material, regain their simple and relaxed state of mind, and reunite with their pure and light inner self in the hustle and bustle of the city.
