From 0 to 1 to Brand Flagship: Design Evolution in Consumer Exoskeletons
As early as 2022, Sisi participated in the design of the Hypershell crowdfunding exoskeleton, exploring the product expression of consumer exoskeleton in outdoor sports and personal enhancement scenarios. In 2025, Sisi will participate in the design of Haier's new exoskeleton W3, pushing the exoskeleton from pioneer technology equipment to further lightweight, daily and wearable.
Exoskeleton is not the traditional sense of intelligent hardware, it is a combination of mechanical structure, motion assistance, ergonomics and wearable device properties. With the development of lightweight materials, motor control, sensor algorithms and intelligent interaction, exoskeletons are gradually entering a wider range of consumer-level use scenarios from industrial, medical, professional sports and other scenarios. It is no longer just a "power-enhancing machine", but an intelligent exercise aid product that is close to the body and extends its ability.
This Haier W3 project takes "smooth integration" as the core design direction, weakens the independent presence of motor, battery and other functional modules, and integrates the drive system, battery module and main structure more naturally through continuous and smooth curve language, presenting a lighter, more coordinated and reliable product state. Compared with the traditional exoskeleton that emphasizes the expression of mechanical exposure, W3 hopes to reduce the user's sense of distance from complex equipment with a restrained and orderly sense of technology.
In terms of structural processing, the project focuses on human body movement trajectory, force path and long-term wearing experience. The design of the external movable arm not only ensures the movement support and structural stability, but also reduces the influence of the core heating components on the body contact area, and further improves the wearing safety and comfort. From Hypershell to Haier W3, Si Si continued to participate in the design evolution of consumer exoskeleton products, and gradually formed a systematic understanding of this highly complex intelligent wearable category.
The design takes "smooth curve feeling" and "body fusion feeling" as the core, and the overall modeling adopts continuous and soft curved surface language, which weakens the abrupt feeling of motor and structural parts, and makes the equipment lighter and integrated visually. By conforming to the line layout of the waist and leg movement tracks, the fit and stability of wearing are improved, and the scientific and technological functions are naturally integrated into the body movements.
The design of the external movable arm not only ensures the movement support and structural stability, but also reduces the influence of the core heating components on the body contact area, and further improves the wearing safety and comfort.
In the fabric and binding design, the focus is on fit, support and long-term wearing comfort. The fabric part is preferably made of materials with air permeability, flexibility and wear resistance to reduce the sultry feeling and friction discomfort in long-term use; at the same time, it can better adapt to the surface changes of different parts such as waist and legs by means of partition wrapping. The binding structure emphasizes stable fixation and convenient adjustment, and reasonably sets the direction and force point of the binding according to the force characteristics of the human body, so as to ensure that the equipment is not easy to shift during movement, and improve the wearing efficiency and sense of security, so that the exoskeleton has a more natural and friendly wearing experience in addition to functional support.
