Time is like running water, gathering all rivers and rivers flowing east into the sea,
Time is like a hymn, live up to your youth, cherish your time and don't waste it.
Because of the impact of the epidemic, people across the country have been at home for more than a month and may have become a little numb to the concept of time. Sometimes time is like an hourglass.⏳Only when quicksand flies can you have an intuitive feeling of time.
The hourglass is a device that has been used since ancient times and is still used in our daily lives. Its shape has hardly changed for thousands of years.
With the advent of the digital clock, the hourglass has changed from a functional role to conveying more emotional values, symbolizing the concept of time.
By studying this simple mechanism, sand grains pass through a narrow channel. Due to gravity, changing speed and angle, one can actually change one's view of time flow.
In other words, the concept of this set can be said to be "design time itself".
Four different hourglasses are carved from a roll of transparent acrylic.
The inner cavity used to accumulate sand has been hand-polished with fine metal needles and abrasives.
This method of making makes these shapes look almost natural, organic, like clouds and puddles, conveying the feeling that time moves more freely than before.
1. Time division
The "five minutes" of sand is divided into two holes; the "three minutes" of sand accumulates in the left ventricle. When the hole is completely filled, the sand starts to fall into the right ventricle, plus "two minutes".
2. Time conversion
The angle of the chamber controls the movement of the sand; in the process of travel, the sand travels along the correct path, calculating "two minutes". Once turned over and the sand came back, it was directed to the left route that only took "one minute.
3. Double the time
When sand falls from the first chamber to the second chamber, it calculates "one minute".
Once the sand had lined up from the second chamber to the next, "two minutes" had passed.
4. Triple
There are three sand chambers like puddles on the top of the hourglass. Depending on which sand chamber the sand is poured into, the same amount of sand can be calculated as "1", "2" or "3" minutes.
Time is precious, and thinking about time is also necessary. With the hourglass that lasted for thousands of years, with Sato's new thinking on time, there is such a new and refreshing form presented to us.
