The device landed on the OCT Phoenix Flower Carnival lawn, with childhood firefly memory as the core of creation, reconstructing pure natural romance in high-density urban green space, and reflecting on modern urban materialized life.
The site relies on undulating lawns and native trees, with multiple soft white arc arches intertwined at different places, simulating a forest dome. The main materials of the device are waste paint buckets for secondary transformation to convert industrial waste into luminous carriers and practice the concept of sustainable art. LED light strips are embedded in the buckets, and the program re-engraves the natural flashing rhythm of fireflies alternating between light and dark. Countless fine shimmers hang down under the arches, re-engraving the dreamy picture of fireflies in the childhood forest.
Contemporary urban life is saturated with materialism, leaving people trapped by endless desires and losing the simple, pure joys of the spirit. The suspended, bio-inspired fireflies serve as a portal to childhood; as visitors pass through the array of lights, they are transported back to those summer nights, chasing starlight in the grass.
The work fuses discarded industrial materials with flowing, soft light and natural grass, creating a spiritual sanctuary in the heart of the city. It calls on people to break free from the shackles of materialism, rediscover a sense of simplicity and ease, and, amidst the urban din, reconnect with their inner selves—pure and light.
