I. Grab Electrolux
First of all, will there be a question mark on your face when you see this picture?? How can AEG and Electrolux have the same sweeping robot? Is it design plagiarism? Is it OEM sales? Or what is the origin of AEG and Electrolux? Next, I will show you the intricate relationships among them, which can be regarded as a sufficient understanding of the product background.
Electrolux (Electrolux) Co., Ltd. is a world-renowned electrical equipment manufacturing company, the world's largest manufacturer of kitchen equipment, cleaning and washing equipment and outdoor electrical appliances, and the world's largest manufacturer of commercial electrical appliances. Founded in Sweden in 1919, it was formed by the merger of Lux Co., Ltd. and Elektromekaniska Co., Ltd., and its headquarters is in Stockholm. At present, various electrical products are produced in more than 60 countries and sold in 160 countries. Elk Winner Green, the founder of Electrolux, invented the world's first household vacuum cleaner in 1912 and produced the first household refrigerator in 1925.

Therefore, it is known that Electrolux PURE i9 was developed by Electrolux's design team, but when it was listed in some European countries, the sub-brand AEG was labeled and renamed RX9. After all, AEG has greater influence in some European countries, which is a more reasonable business behavior for businesses.
II. PURE i9 from a design perspective
As a designer in the "robot" industry, there are more topics, perspectives and personal opinions in the design perspective.
This time, the editor interprets PURE i9 from the three angles of appearance, function and technology, so that all readers can know more about PURE i9 in design.
I originally planned to shoot the video of unpacking, but the accessories in the package are relatively simple, and the packaging gift box is also a conventional packaging method that is more cost-effective (simple and environmentally friendly, commendable.)

1. Appearance
I am used to seeing the "round cake-shaped" sweeping robot in the market. The first sight of the Electrolux PURE i9 really had a great visual impact on me.
PURE i9 abandons the conventional conservative modeling and takes a relatively "extreme" modeling route. The strong product style sets the tone of the next product style, which is likely to become a family style with strong recognition.
PURE i9 is a triangle as a whole, the lines are relatively tough and jumping, and the local surface uses a large curved surface to "neutralize" the hard vision;
Array outlet grille to enhance product gas field;
Virtual buttons, hidden display screen and eye-catching 3D vision sensor, the whole product conveys the product temperament of "hard core", "professional", "technology" and "intelligence.
The reason why everyone looks at beautiful things is that "beauty" is regular.
Designers will look for the rules of beauty when designing.
Xiao Bian also tried to explore the rules of PURE i9 beauty through several "modeling methods.
A. geometric inductive modeling:
When the product does not have specific functions and special shapes, designers often use geometric induction to shape the product.
Geometric figures are shapes that people have abstracted, summarized and summarized from the laws of nature and real life for thousands of years.
Therefore, geometric figures are originally figures summarized from laws, so geometric figures themselves have their own aura of "beauty.
The following figure is a product design summarized by geometric figures.
The overall modeling trend of PURE i9 is triangle, which has stable, powerful and radical graphic semantics.
In order to make this "radical" styling less abrupt, the designer uses isosceles trapezoid embellishments in the details.
Isosceles trapezoid gives people a sense of solemnity and change, so it can make the overall visual sense of triangle richer and fuller, and unify the design elements.
B. Constitutive rules:
It is to arrange the modeling elements according to the composition. The constituent elements are point, line, surface, body, color and space.
Its forming elements are still the rules of formal beauty, such as contrast and harmony, symmetry and balance, proportion, rhythm, rhythm, diversity, unity, gradient, radiation, specificity, repetition, etc. It is important to create artistic conception through design.

The overall shape of PURE i9 uses concentric radiation, and cleverly uses radiation, gradient, repetition and other composition methods.
The air outlet grille on the fuselage also uses repeated and gradual composition, and the air outlet holes are arranged regularly in a vertical and gradual manner.
This makes the overall modeling elements of PURE i9 look unified and varied, making the modeling have a sense of tension, order and form.
c. Proportional segmentation:
"Proportion" is a topic that designers cannot escape, and adjusting proportion modeling is also an important link in the designer's modeling work.
Even a senior car designer once told me that making proportion is making modeling!
It can be seen that "proportion" plays an important role in the work of designers. When it comes to ratios, one has to mention the "golden ratio", which is an irrational number defined as (√ 5-1)/2 (about 0.618:1).
The levels used are quite broad, such as: mathematics, physics, architecture, art and even music.
The "golden rectangular line" and "golden spiral line" derived from the "golden ratio" are affectionately called "loading B line" by netizens, because many photos will be inexplicably "tall" after being covered with the "golden dividing line".
Although the name of netizens is joking, the principle behind tracing is actually a certain aesthetic law. Let's take a look at the design with "golden ratio.
When I used the "golden dividing line" to fit the shape of PURE i9 in the software, I still found the rule:
When the top and bottom of the "golden spiral" are aligned with the product, the spiral center point is just at the button of the dust box;
A "golden spiral" is turned horizontally, and the contours of the two spiral lines are also highly consistent with the product modeling line;
The shape turning point of the product, the parting line of the product and the dividing line of the LOGO edge of the product can also meet the "golden section".
Of course, this is probably the "unconscious" performance of the designer in the design process, but this is by no means accidental.
Because the designer's training of "proportional modeling" in his long-term work is quite sensitive to "proportional modeling" and is familiar with the application of "proportional modeling.
Designers know how to coordinate the position and size of buttons. Designers know how to make the division of shapes beautiful;
Designers know how to match the area ratio of colors to look comfortable... This is the result of long-term training, and the designer's respect for aesthetic laws should be hidden behind it.
2. Function
A. host layout:
The internal space of the sweeping robot is limited and the layout is quite compact.
In this limited space, it is necessary to arrange the turbine fan, driving wheel and driving wheel motor, main brush and main brush motor, side brush and side brush motor, battery, various sensors, circuit board, dust box and other components. How to reasonably and effectively design the layout of components has become an important measure to evaluate the success of the design of the sweeping robot.
How to ensure the capacity of the dust box, ensure the battery life and ensure the cleaning area under the condition of controlling the size of the main body has also become a major difficulty in the design of the sweeping robot.
In the following figure, the Cobos DE3 sweeping robot and the millet sweeping robot are both "round cake-like" modeling.
The driving wheels are located on both sides of the bottom, and the LDS laser sensor and turbo fan are in front.
This layout makes the main brush and the dust suction port can only be arranged backwards, so that the layout of the dust suction port and the driving wheel in the horizontal direction will overlap.
The designer can only place the driving wheel at the edge as much as possible, and the dust suction port is arranged between the two wheels, so that the size and position of the main brush and the dust suction port are limited, and the cleaning area is also discounted.
PURE i9 is a triangular shape. The main brush and the dust suction port are arranged at the front edge of the main body (because the front of PURE i9 is a 3D vision sensor that does not need to take up a lot of space). The driving wheel is located on both sides of the middle (the driving wheel is also larger in size and has stronger obstacle crossing ability, with official data reaching 2.2cm). In this way, the dust suction port and the driving, therefore, the cleaning area is more considerable than the latter two.
As a result, the cleaning blind area of the sweeping robot is also obvious.
B. dust box design:
The design of the dust box part of PURE i9 is preferred by small editors.
The overall dust box shape is highly integrated and unified with the main body, unlike the simple cube segmentation made by conventional sweeping robots.
We can also see from the dust box opened on the figure that the space volume is very large.
Moreover, the dust collection box of this robot is very convenient to open, and only needs to press the middle button to open it.
However, it should be noted that we are opening this dust collection box of the sweeping robot and must close it after cleaning the dirty things.
If the dust box is not closed properly, it will be marked with red on the LCD panel to prompt. This design can also protect the machine.
The dust box is opened by the flip cover, the bottom of the dust box is made of transparent PC, and the flip cover part is the material of the main shell. PURE i9 adopts a double filter structure, and the bright orange is a thick net (the bright orange parts are very eye-catching and play a good embellishment role in color). It filters large particles of dust, and the top is a conventional filter. The black material on the filter edge is made of soft TPE, which feels comfortable and easy to replace. More importantly, it plays a good sealing role to prevent dust from escaping.
C. base design:
Charging seat with wire storage design, to avoid excess exposed, for small plait this late obsessive-compulsive disorder patients is undoubtedly good news.
D. air outlet and heat dissipation:
The integrated air outlet can not only meet a large amount of air outlet, but also dissipate heat for internal heating components in time.
3. Process
The white version of PURE i9 evaluated this time is processed and manufactured by domestic manufacturers. The overall manufacturing level is not bad, but more efforts are needed to control the quality and details of the products.
The design of PURE i9 was made by Electrolux's design team, so it showed a better effect in terms of component coordination.
The parting line, art slot and assembly clearance of the product all look uniform and distinct.
The structural fit of the components is also quite firm and reliable.
The white main shell is a fog surface effect, the touch is more delicate and advanced, the operation panel is a black light effect, and the virtual keys (but the editor personally prefers the physical keys).
However, the small plait still saw the shortcomings in the process. The front of the main machine hit the plate and the charging base had shrunk water lines at many positions. This should be the process problem of the mold in the production process.
I feel that this is not a problem for a first-line brand product. At present, the ability of domestic manufacturers can completely avoid similar situations. I hope that manufacturers can see and do it to optimize and do it more perfectly.
III. Configuration and Parameters
1. Power adapter:

2. Main brush:
The main brush is a mixed type of brush and rubber brush. This design takes into account the ground scraping and dust, but the disadvantage is that it is easy to wind hair. However, this main brush design is commonly used in the industry.
3. Dust box & filter screen:
The 0.7L large-capacity dust collection box is one of the best in this type of product. It adopts a double-layer filter design for easy cleaning. The dust net area is very large, has good gas passability, and reduces suction loss.
4. Brush:
The side brush is 8 bundles of fiber bristles.
5. Charging base:
No sensors were found, but were estimated to be the recovery mode of the visual laser.
6. Battery:
There is a battery compartment designed on both sides of the bottom of the fuselage.
The battery can be poured out by screwing. Looking at the shape of the battery clip, it can be seen that there are 4 18650 lithium batteries, 2500mAh × 4=10000mAh, which is one of the best in similar products.
Officials claim that it can last up to 60 minutes and sweep 220 square meters at a time.
7. Sensors & Algorithms:
PURE i9 uses a laser plus vision recognition system, which is more advanced than the computing system of similar products PURE i9 (that is, the fourth generation navigation system in the industry, most products are currently in the third generation navigation system: VSLAM image vision positioning navigation system).
There is a laser emission feedback point on both sides of the front of the product, and a 3D vision sensor is designed in the middle. This is one of the core technologies of the manufacturer, 3D Vision technology: through the intelligent sensing system, the results of laser scanning are formed into three-dimensional modeling in the system, which can more accurately perceive the surrounding environment.

X-BOX the price of the second generation Kinect exceeds $2000, which is also one of the major reasons why the 3D vision imaging system has not been popularized in the sweeping robot industry.
Therefore, the high selling price of PURE i9 is not difficult to explain, which also makes PURE i9 a milestone product in the development direction of the sweeping robot industry.
Secondly, the "camera lens" should not be afraid to spy on privacy, because this is not a lens at all, but a visual recognition system, and its internal system will form a linear 3D structure diagram inside the system according to laser scanning and visual recognition.
IV. Use feeling
There are two waste dogs in my family. The flying dog hair once drove me crazy. Therefore, my most basic demand for sweeping robots is "to have greater suction".
In terms of power, it is also lacking in many sweeping robots on the market.
Electrolux Pure i9 is equipped with AirExtreme Technology technology, which can generate strong airflow and can be called the strongest suction on the surface!
With 21cm extra-long cleaning roller brush, you can have better cleaning performance.
It is worth mentioning that Electrolux PURE i9 can also intelligently identify ground made of different materials and automatically adjust the forward speed and main brush frequency.
The first time I cleaned up the dust box, I really jumped, full of dog hair.
At the bottom of Electrolux PURE i9, two large rollers are designed, with non-slip teeth, which are not easy to slip and jam.
In addition, the height of Electrolux PURE i9 is only 8.9cm, so it is easy to enter under the bed and still works in places that are not easy to reach.
For the corners of the wall and the corners of the home, the conventional circular robot vacuum cleaner is difficult to achieve good results, while Electrolux PURE i9 is a new one.
With triangular appearance and front roller brush design, it also has very good cleaning effect in these dead corner areas. Compared with circular robot vacuum cleaners, the cleaning efficiency and coverage rate are higher.
In terms of endurance, Electrolux PURE i9 can work for 40 minutes at a time when fully charged, and 60 minutes if it is in energy-saving mode.
Of course, for large-sized users, they may worry that the robot will stop working foolishly if there is no electricity in the middle.
There is no need to worry about this at all. Electrolux PURE i9 supports automatic return to the charging stand. It will return to the charging stand when the power is low, and it will automatically record the currently cleaned area. After being fully charged, it will continue cleaning from the place where the work was finished last time.
Electrolux Pure i9 is very smart, the entire cleaning process does not require human intervention, and it automatically returns to the charging base when the work is completed, which is very efficient.
In the cleaning process, the noise of Electrolux PURE i9 is still not low. Although there is no professional decibel meter, the sensory noise of PURE i9 and even the noise of hand-held vacuum cleaner do not want to go up and down. It is suggested that the later products can consider adding sound-absorbing and sound-insulating materials or using other noise reduction methods to reduce the noise, which can make the product quality sense by going up one flight of stairs.
The height at which Electrolux PURE i9 can cross the threshold is still very good. Based on the excellent two-wheel suspension system, the vacuum cleaner can cross hard obstacles up to 2.2cm.
In terms of technology content and intelligence, Electrolux PURE i9 did not disappoint people, but the matching APP is relatively simple (the advantage is that it is barrier-free to use), but the application information and interface design are indeed somewhat stretched compared with Xiaomi, after all, Xiaomi has a large UI design team support.
