When we do product design, we often use the design of CD pattern effect. Such as switches, watches and other products

Today we take audio as an example to introduce two methods of making CD texture.


Method 1. using CD texture mapping

This method is the simplest and fastest, but it has great limitations.

For example:

Using maps cannot quickly adjust the color of materials;

When animating, the light and shadow of the map will not change with the angle of the product.

Method 2: Use anisotropic material representation




Let's briefly introduce the function of this material,

Anisotropy is a material specially used to make CD patterns and brushed patterns.

The essence of this material lies in "roughness x" and "roughness y".


These two parameters indicate that an object is divided into X-axis and Y-axis. By adjusting the two parameter values, the material has different roughness in different directions, so as to achieve the effect of different light and shadow scattering, that is, the effect of CD pattern.

Step 1: Import the model and adjust the product angle.

Select materials of different sex and adjust the difference between "roughness x" and "roughness y.

Note that the mode should be radial, and then adjust the position texture.

Step 2: In order to make the effect more realistic, use KS's own wood ring texture to make the concavity and convexity.

Note that the circular texture of the tree itself is not a perfect circle. We need to adjust the parameters in the red box in the following figure to achieve a rational CD pattern effect.

The final effect

Finally, we can store the adjusted material as one of our own material balls, so that we can use it directly next time. More convenient than mapping.

Summary

1. Heterosexual materials are more suitable for textures such as CD pattern, brushed pattern, carbon brazing dimension, etc. through different characteristics of roughness in different directions.

2. You can make your own material library from the materials you often use, which will be very convenient for rendering in the future.
