The space humanistic planning of Qingyuan Mountain tourist area takes "root, origin, body, soul, appearance and rhyme" as the core context, connects the famous mountain's thousand-year-old context, and reconstructs the triple cultural core of Qingyuan Mountain's Zen, mind, poetry and prose with modern sculpture language.
The work is laid out along a linear mountain‑forest trail, divided into three narrative chapters: stone-carved sculptures depicting Wang Tinggui fishing and literati boating evoke the itineraries of illustrious figures throughout the ages; a replica of the Jijing Temple’s scholarly assembly reenacts the grand convocations of Yangming Mind Learning; and statues of Zen patriarchs stand as embodiments of the Qingyuan Monastery’s thousand-year Buddhist heritage. The sculpture employs a diverse array of materials, including cast bronze, solid wood, and etched stone. The stone base is inscribed with poems and prose by renowned masters throughout the ages, seamlessly integrating three treasured inkworks: calligraphic masterpieces by Yan Zhenqing, Wen Tianxiang, and Huang Tingjian from Qingyuan.
Drawing on the pristine landscapes of Qingyuan Mountain and the Gan River, the design integrates religious Zen sensibilities, the scholarly traditions of Neo-Confucianism, and poetic literature into the pathway space, transcending the constraints of conventional exhibition layouts to create a cultural itinerary that is both visually engaging, intellectually accessible, tactile, and fully immersive. Allow visitors to wander through the mountains and forests, to touch the ink and brush of Tang and Song literati, and to awaken to the true heart of Zen, thereby bringing to life the unique cultural spirit of Qingyuan Mountain’s landscapes and fostering a renewed sense of its historical memory, vitality, and artistic charm.
