It is recommended to reduce the use of electroplating parts for maternal and infant products. 1. The electroplating layer is easy to fall off and there is a risk of swallowing by mistake.
The electroplating process is to attach a layer of metal coating (such as chromium, nickel, zinc, etc.) to the metal surface by electrolysis, but the binding force between the coating and the substrate is limited. Infants and young children often touch the product by biting and grasping, which may cause the coating to fall off and form fine fragments or particles.
If the fall is swallowed by infants and young children, it may scratch the mouth, esophagus, or accumulate in the body, causing digestive tract obstruction and other risks.
2. Heavy metal precipitation, harmful to health
Electroplating may contain lead, cadmium, nickel, chromium and other heavy metals. Infants with delicate skin, and through oral contact (such as chewing toys, tableware), heavy metals may penetrate through the skin or digestive tract into the body.
Heavy metals are difficult to metabolize in the body, and long-term accumulation may damage the nervous system, hematopoietic system and kidney function, especially for infants and young children with immature brain development. For example, lead exposure may cause mental retardation, and nickel may trigger allergic reactions.
3. Base material exposed after coating corrosion or wear
If the electroplated parts are corroded and worn due to moisture (such as milk and sweat in contact with mother and infant products) or friction, the base metal (such as iron, zinc alloy, etc.) may be exposed and rusted, resulting in harmful substances.
Rusty metal fragments may cause infection if they come into contact with the skin of infants and young children; if they are mixed with food or eaten by mistake, they may also cause metal poisoning.
4. Chemical residues in the production process
Electroplating process requires the use of strong acid, strong alkali and other chemical reagents, if the production process is not thoroughly cleaned, the product surface may remain chemical substances
