After the performance characteristics of the indoor theater are taking shape day by day, the cultural square has been exploring how to break the space and content restrictions of the theater. The design concept of Dr. Fu Guohua, founder and chief designer of KFS International Architects and Stan Architectural Design Consulting Co., Ltd., coincides with the demand of the cultural square. "Ecological Box" theater is the first outdoor theater in Shanghai.

The "ecological box" theater will make use of the outdoor stage site resources of Shanghai cultural square, combine with stan architectural design consulting co., ltd., creatively design the performance stage main body and audience seats and other hardware equipment, recycle containers as stage structural materials, and complete a reasonable replacement of resources, thus turning the abandoned containers into a creative theater space.

Inclusiveness, diversity, openness and sharing are the design concepts of the chief designer Fu Guohua architect. A multi-faceted surrounding stage or outdoor theater restructured from a container is characterized by a multi-faceted surrounding stage or outdoor theater, including a combination of several containers after restructuring. The container includes a container as the main stage and several containers as the sub-stage (including multi-sided surround or outdoor theater). The dedicated venue is equipped with actor passage, dressing room, performance stage, audience entrance, audience passage, auditorium, toilet and evacuation entrance.

In the auditorium, 360-degree rotatable seats build the performance effect of four stages and implement the creative concept of ecological and environmental protection. The audience is in it, deconstructing the drama in an innovative mode, infinitely narrowing the distance between the ordinary audience and the stage actors, using the semi-closed stage form to fully integrate the stage into the natural environment, so that art truly becomes a normal life, so it is named "Ecological Box" Theater.
