This year's AIGC explosion, many designers are trying to integrate AI into the workflow, and many people are sharing their AI works, but I think many people are sharing too superficial (ps: who can't use AI to generate several pictures and don't share the prompt words yet), so I want to share the design process of my work and how to use AI to assist in the process, welcome all great gods to exchange their complaints.



Project background:
This product was once on my way to work when I saw a team of construction workers drawing zebra crossings. In summer, several people pushed a hot machine to draw lines there under the scorching sun. Then I stared at the line on the side of the road every day at work and wondered if drawing this line could be fully automated without manual work.
So I started brainstorming......

I did some research on road drawing equipment, did some research on electric vehicles, and initially combed the ideas. However, at this time I still have no idea about this car, and I have no idea about the specific shape.


This is the time to use AI. First, lose what you want to AI and let his husband come out in several pictures to see the effect. I have tried several mainstream AIGC tools, but the StableDiffusion generation effect is the best.

First ignore the quality of the picture, here I just use AI to think, this product form is beyond my expectation, provides a lot of ideas. When I wanted to draw a sketch according to this form, I suddenly felt wrong. The structure of this product did not seem to be very good.

First of all, the road drawing car is walking on the road. The chassis of the above scheme is too small and the size is too small. Second, this car uses electricity, the battery space is relatively small, the capacity is small, and it is not durable. How to realize the third product, the process of feeding-melting-spraying.

With that in mind, I decided to reverse the plan.

After studying some existing products on the market and understanding the relevant technology, I have a new idea.

The structure is simply combed, with a larger chassis, a battery, a central control room in front, a storage bin on the back similar to an oil tanker, a heating bin in the middle, and a manipulator spraying underneath.


However, I have no idea about the form here, and I still use AI to think about it, but this time I used the graffiti in the ControlNet and drew an extremely scrawled picture for him.

At this point, AI's work is over. I just use AI to help me find inspiration and save unnecessary steps in the process without vague concepts and modeling ideas.
The pictures I use SD are a little crooked. I don't know how those people with very high quality do it.


The next step is modeling, doing all the details, and then rendering.
