The camera bar (right side) of Ncam's existing products is larger and slightly bulky. As a result, users' film and television production studios are quite restricted in the installation of products, the heat dissipation performance of the products is not good, and Ncam itself cannot form a distinct brand image.
In this project, IDC is responsible for optimizing the above elements and delivering a product that Ncam is proud of, and bringing new value to its customers, including Sony Films, Marvel, Sky Sports, Lucas Films, etc.
Together with other performance and functional improvements, Ncam's Mk2 AR camera has added an optimized custom structure that helps the device safely lock the USB-C connector.
The wire is in position when pushed in, and can only be released when the user presses the button at the bottom of the product. This feature prevents the locked connector from being accidentally disconnected. The structure is designed to meet strict tolerances to strike a proper balance between reliability and ease of insertion.
IDC has conducted important prototype tests in terms of heat dissipation (to support design iterations) to achieve the delivery of the final solution for heat dissipation elements. Through sufficient ventilation and integrated heat dissipation features, the design can meet the needs of product heat dissipation.
The design also includes a LEMO connection port for synchronizing multiple camera bars and a locking mechanism to realize USB-C secure connection.
Combined with Ncam's Mk2 micro-server, the system has achieved unprecedented flexibility and can be adapted to tripods, Stanikon, line cameras and drones. AR camera won the best display award at IBC Amsterdam and the special award at the Digital Media World Award.
