At the beginning of the project, IDC and BMC team jointly conducted the search and research of existing products and global competitors, conducted a survey of the user environment, and found the future development trend of such products.

Based on the above usability study, IDC realized that the humidification system has a large opportunity to simplify the design, but also the key to achieve equipment optimization. The humidification system humidifies the filtered air and passes it into the mask so that the user breathes the moist, clean air and experiences a more comfortable experience. Users need to fill the water tank in the system every day, so the design of the program requires to avoid water overflow and user-friendly operation. In addition, the design should be based on BMC's existing engineering structure, which also adds certain challenges to the work.

The study of different equipment structures found that the water injection steps of similar products on the market are relatively complicated. It is necessary to remove the water tank from the equipment, open the lid or reverse and align the water inlet before filling, or it is impossible to ensure smooth and safe water addition under the condition of connecting the host. The G3 water tank reduces the operating steps by 50% and features a cover that can achieve full opening. Users can directly inject water from the top without removing the water tank from the device.

The experience of taking the water tank is also unique among similar products in the current market, that is, through a spring-loaded system, when the user presses the top of the water tank, the buckle mechanism can be released.

The appearance is smoother and more elegant, and the equipment looks more intensive and compact in terms of modeling and color matching through visual illusion. The enlarged keys and interaction module can make it easier for users to operate in a semi-awake state.

The use environment of the equipment is usually at the bedside, and the design should be hidden and familiar, which weakens the psychological depression that medical equipment may produce. The design team was inspired by highly integrated audio equipment to achieve this demand.

The integrated design of G3 equipment (that is, the integration of the host and the water tank) compresses the space of the noise reduction box. Guided by computer simulation, the noise index of the equipment achieves a low noise target of 26dB.

The G3 water tank and appearance design solution delivered by IDC to the enterprise is completed by the BMC team for its gas path design and integration with the host. In view of the integrated sealing, the BMC team tried different design schemes, after many tests, and finally confirmed the suitable structural scheme and silica gel category.
